Juelle & Donovan, Founders

With a background in teaching, school administration, and leading international groups all over the world for cross-cultural awareness, we are dedicated to building a wonderful world for all of our precious earth’s inhabitants.

We are dedicated to promoting peace and compassion between all people and we see our entire world as our home and as our community. We are especially dedicated to showing young people and adults how magnificent our world and its people are.

Sage Godfrey, Lead Teacher

My beginning with The Power of One came out of my hikes with Juelle. She would tell me about her spiritual pilgrimages around the world, and then she started telling me about this new idea she had to bring American students to Thailand to see the "ellies", as she calls them, and how we would include Thai students through a teacher she had met at a Thai high school. This intrigued me. How do you create a program that works for both American and Thai students? And when she asked me to be the lead teacher I was thrilled to take the project on.

My own background is in middle school English. Working with early adolescents was a joy and a challenge. Much of it involved encouraging students to be part of a team and learning through interdisciplinary units.

Our curriculum for The Power of One has developed around several themes including getting to know our students, interacting with the elephants, cross cultural exchanges that focus on the countries represented by our students, learning about the Thai culture through visiting temples and talking with Buddhist monks, attending English Camp at a Thai high school, and most importantly, focusing on how we can make a difference in bringing about world peace.

“We often do not know where our place is in this world and how to claim it. I love watching someone wake up to their purpose and their place. I love helping a young person see their strengths and their potentials. One person really can make a difference!”
      - Juelle Wilkins, Director

“I like to see the look in the student’s eyes as they are the explorers of today’s world, gaining an expanded world view and seeing how wonderful the people of other countries can be. Who knows, one day our students may be in leadership roles helping our country and our world to shine.”
     - Donovan, Director

“Our students take part in many service learning activities, volunteering at the elephant park, sharing with each other about language and culture, and interacting with students at schools in southern Thailand. Each one goes home with a certificate that can be used for a college application or a resume.”
